Im not really good at this but seeing this masterpiece not have a single review is unnacceptable to me, so heres my spoiler free review:
Plot 9/10: it was honestly great, at first it was a bit rough around the edges, but as the pieces started falling together in place and we had more info to understand what was going on, the story only became more enjoyable. Also the plot twists that would come out of nowhere were great! And they werent there just to shock you they actually made sense given each current developments.
Art 10/10: nothing much to say, the art already speaks for itself.

This manhwa had a whole team working on it instead of one overworked artist and it shows! The first few chapters were a bit rough here and there, i assume as the team was getting used to working together, but then its like something clicked and they started producing wallpaper worthy panels hehe.
Character relationships 10/10: A big part of this series, and the writer did an amazing job fleshing those out in the light novel, the manhwa team carried it through great into their work as well. The friendhips and slow burn romance were truly handled masterfully.
Characters 1000000/10: the character development was soooo it for me!! I read once that there are two types of stories when it comes to character development, ones like sharelock holmes where the character doesnt get any tangible development, but rather as the story progresses we as the audience get to learn about them more, as at first they seem to us as so mysterious and unapprochable (especialy in the case of geniuses), and then the other classic type, where a character does get developped and learns through there experiences in a story to get better. Well somehow, the male lead got both treatments lol. The MC also got some much needed classic character development, but we see most of its results more towards the end (understandable giving his mental condition) anyways i cant speak more on this for spoiler reasons but just know they change eachother for the better, and thats something to look forward to.
Overall 10/10: at first it just looked like we were in for a trashy yandere trope story, but im glad to report by the end i realized i stumbled upon a hidden gem!!

You know when people say "not for everyone" about a show? well Spice and Wolf is generally the polar opposite of shows like that.
I'm sure there are exceptions but it touches on core emotional concepts of being a human, and despite its rather fantastical setting it's just so dang grounded!
The story: 10/10, its on the dialogue heavy side but that's how all slice of life tends to be, its also a plus in this case especially the main leads have great chemistry together, I could listen to their conversations as they fluctuate from light and teasing to serious and emotional for ages. well thought out with hardly any holes or flaws the pacing is perfect because it always feels like the characters are working towards a goal and only pausing when necessary, there's also a sense of wholesomeness surrounding them.
The music: solid soundtracks all around, some better then others, but this show isn't really known for its music nor are we here for that. (If you are definitely go watch Girls Band Cry to get your fix some time).
The animation: all the calm moments which is much of the show are really well animated, I love the color choices of this adaptation too, they gave the hair colors some gradient that makes it pop out more. sadly for the first 7 or so episodes any running scenes felt a bit awkward, thankfully they soon fixed the issue and later on all action heavy scenes feel smooth and much more fluid, overall no less than an 8/10.
For whom it may concern, the fanservice: Personally fanservice makes me uncomfortable, so past a certain point, especially when the character in question (usually women) is being heavily disrespected it makes me feel sick. Thankfully, spice and wold has reigned in fanservice that makes sense with the story (think Power in chainsaw man fanservice scene, it made sense and didn't disrespect the character). At the end of the day something like this is subjective, but what matters is how uncomfortable the viewer was, and I was not so take that as you will.
Overall highly recommend it, the main lead are highly well written and consistent and that's already 80% of what these romance shows need to be good.

Just gonna add one more review cuz there are way too few!
The animation is top tier, especially considering the scale of the project. The tone and colors especially shift flawlessly between bright and dark depending on the scene, reall conveying the mood well to the viewer.
The storytelling is a bit tricky, cuz this is a music video so you do have to pay attention to both the lyrics and the animation, the lyrics of the song mostly providing some insight to the characters emotional state and feelings as the animation mostly showcases the present with some flashbacks, but overall it was greatly handled.

the music and well, its amazing, this is a music video after al loll. To keep this review spoiler free tho I'll avoid telling much more.
The end credits are accompanied by wholesome and funny bloopers and I love that Eve and his fellow creators went the extra mile even tho they didn't have to! stuff like that really genuinely shows the creators care about the audience and our experience!
Overall it's a 10/10 for me, go watch it! its just a short music video, tho if you want the full context do make sure to watch the prequel first: "How To Eat Life", also by Eve ofc.

Other people have already given more detailed reviews, so really I'm just adding stuff I want to say, but I'll keep it spoiler free.
A lot of stories try to either be so unique that they end up feeling too unrealistic and out of touch, while some stories play into the common tropes so much to sell well they just feel like every other anime out there regurgitated into a big mess. And I get it really, it's hard to balance the right amount of familiar with the right amount of strange, but Lycoris Recoil does it perfectly.
The best way to explain this show

without spoilers is to give an example. Have you watched any vtubers recently? Lately it feels like every concept under the sun has been already done, all the low hanging fruits like cat girl vtubers or bunny girls or demon boys or whatever,so how do newer gens adapt? they mix two concepts together that haven't been done together before, like a police officer hamster, or a genie mermaid. the key is not to do so many that you end up with a literal mess but not so few that it feels like you're just redoing whats been done already. After watching the whole show that's the impression I got, mixing in just enough concepts that on their own are not that unique but tuned together they create a harmonious but also fresh plot that surprises and delights the reader. The twists and turns and along the way also felt natural and well thought out, which I prefer over shocking twists that serve nothing for the story except to surprise the viewer.
Oh yeah and we got some mild but respectful LGBTQ+ representation so that's a plus too.
Anyways overall its a 10/10 for me, the story hits everything it needs to hit and excels in at least one department and that's perfect.
