Synopsis

Seo Jinhyuk is, more than anything, bored. His father is an unsung movie director, his mother is rarely home, and he lives in a big, empty apartment all by himself, studying and diligently attending school. He cannot wait to be independent and free from the frivolous high school hierarchy; like most people, he is a bystander while the aggressors pick on the victims. Among the bullies, Lim Heechan stands out with his handsome looks and a perpetually apathetic demeanor.

Taking a shortcut through a residential block no better than a junkyard, Jinhyuk witnesses Heechan getting beat up by his own father. Jinhyuk may be desperate for anything—good or bad—to kill his ennui, but he has no intention of intervening and putting a target on his back. Yet Heechan takes notice of him, and through a few small interactions, Jinhyuk spots something gentle, humane, and pitiful in Heechan. Before long, their quiet moments together begin to transform indifference into something unexpectedly intimate.

My heart is overflowing with warmth after finishing this beautiful masterpiece of BL manhwa. With only 70 chapters this is a short read that I definitely recommend to everyone! It‘s a realistic story about two completely opposite high school boys growing closer and falling in love. I love the realistic take on what it’s like to be a homosexual man in countries like korea and that in the end even obstacles set by our society cannot stop true love from blossoming and surviving between two men. Truly a 10/10 story that leaves a sweet taste in your mouth after finishing! <3

Such an emotional roller coaster, so worth it.

I usually have issues with stories that are described as "realistic". Sometimes they are so down-to-earth that they don't have any sense of sentimentalism at all… so I was kinda worried. But, oh my god, Our Youth was such an experience. It held so many feelings.

It's a slow burn that will leave your heart aching to the mere acknowledgements of their feelings; it's all so subtle yet so revealing. Our youth was honestly, such a good read. And, that might be an understatement.

When I first came across it, I wasn't expecting much, but the refreshing title and the simple yet charming art style pulled me in. To this day, I have not yet read a piece of work with an equivalent, realistic outlook on relationship growth, while also targeting the characters personal issues, that reflect societal flaws. I loved the way the characters' personalities, emotions and views were expressed. The pacing was amazing, truly, accurate, showcasing the doubt and fear, but also the longing and constant care caused by a person's first love.
