If you enjoy Spy x Family  I really think you would enjoy Sakamoto Days. In Sakamoto Days you follow Taro Sakamoto a renowned assassin and the best in his field. But all of this changes ones he falls head over heels for his wife, retires from his profession and runs a convenience store with her. But as these things tend to go, 10 years later his skill and expertise are once again needed, and he is pushed back into the criminal world against his will. Despite that he does not break his promise to his wife, which was one of their many marriage rules :" Do not kill.” 
Throughout the entire adventure,  little by little you learn about Sakamotos past life as a famous ex-assassin.

It is a hilarious and adventures story, that gets more and more serious and suspenseful/ exciting as time goes on, but never loses its light-hearted and funny charm!  Just like Spy x Familiy the manga has many fun interesting characters, plot lines and scenes. It is just a wonderful read and makes me always look forward for the next chapter.

I would highly recommend this manga to anyone!  Especially if you're in a reading/manga slump. It starts out fun and similar to a slice of life following a retired assassin in the first few chapters, but definitely becomes more intriguing and suspenseful as time goes on!

Spy x Family and Sakamoto Days are two popular manga that share several intriguing similarities, making both of them highly engaging reads.

First, both manga excel in their unique genre combinations. Spy x Family masterfully blends action, comedy, and slice-of-life elements within the family sphere, while Sakamoto Days focused on action and comedy. Both manga deliver thrilling yet entertaining stories with a brilliant touch of humor.

Second, the protagonists in both manga have fascinating and unusual backgrounds. Loid Forger from Spy x Family is a spy who must disguise himself as the father of a fake family, whereas Sakamoto Taro from Sakamoto Days is a former hitman now living as a peaceful convenience store owner. Both characters strive to hide their violent pasts while leading more normal and peaceful lives.

Furthermore, the character relationships in both manga add to the story's appeal. In Spy x Family, the dynamic between Loid, Yor (his wife who is actually an assassin), and Anya (their adopted daughter with mind-reading ability) provides constant emotional depth and humor. Both have a very interesting and funny family dynamic with characters trying to hide their identity. In sakamoto days that element is played down a bit but both have a fantastic balance of action and comedy. I feel like if you like one chances are you're also gonna like the other

Both centered around family and fighting. The comedy is similar, and the action involves most of the same things (gunfights, assassins, etc.). Both also involve a character who can read minds.

While Spy x Family tends to get a little deeper, Sakomoto Days is a lighter read.

Uber badass underworld legend put his shady life behind to become a family man. Hilarity ensues. 
While those sentences explain the premise of these two manga quite well, there is one small difference: Sakamoto is mostly action with a bit of slice of life, while Househusband is mostly slice of life with a bit of action.

Gintama addpermalink

Both series feature a main character with silver hair, who used to have a violent past and is now trying to live a 'peaceful' life, but later their past would start to catch up with them again. Gintoki was a former joui samurai, while Taro was a former hitman. Both were very strong warriors/fighters but also turned out to be pretty softies as well. 

There were also other characters that were like parallels/similar of each other, like Shinpachi/Shin, Kagura/Shaotang, Katsura/Nagumo. Heck, even one of the antagonists are similar as well... like X was introduced in a similar way as how Takasugi first appeared in Gintama. 

Both series were somewhat slice-of-life in genre, but there are also some serious plot as well as comedic parts. You can basically swap the main characters with either series, and the plot would still more or less end up the same. In a way, Gintama could be said to be a Samurai AU version of Sakamoto Days and Sakamoto Days the hitman AU version of Gintama. read more

If you enjoyed chainsaw man I feel like this Assasin-filled world will definitely bring you a lot of enjoyment. The thing that Sakamoto Days delivers on is definitely a sense of action and urgency in fights while always finding a comedic undertone to just make you die of laughter while flipping through the pages.

Both of these manga focus heavily on absurd assassination plotlines that go beyond the means of regular human beings, the action is almost constant and both manga lean very heavily into their comedy.

Kagurabachi addpermalink

Both have AMAZING action and fights. The cast is just top tier, there are so many characters you could have as favourites and remember along side the protagonist and antagonists.
Both have various clans and organisations.
Unnatural physical abilities.
Slight gore.
Memorable and HYPE panels, also both MCs are strategic in their fights, personality wise they are different but in battle they show a few similarities.

Both feature EXTREMELY well done action sequences drawn by Suzuki and Junichi sense respectively featuring the concepts of retired hitmen and assassins using every day weapons. Although I do think sakamoto days revolutionized the concept its still fun to see a fresh take on it, this time our Protagonist as opposed to a family man is an old guy in a wheelchair which makes his feats all the more unlikely, paired with a handsome young male deutorogonist similar to the way shin would support sakamoto in sakadays. Also both seem to start with a similar episodic format at the beginning. if I had to say the greatest differences apart from shin being an esper as an additional aspect. G.G.G seems to actually have an overarching message, and the story beats definitely feel intentional and motivated as well as being off rip just a tad more mature just in terms of themes covered ( although I would say both are quite light hearted reads ). Overall I would recommend this to anyone who is a fan of good panel direction, art ,action and of course sakamoto days. read more

Both have excellent action sequences and Sakamoto days has the same high risk feel and has a few strengths that Jujutsu kaisen doesnt like better panneling and art and also a comedy aspect (only in a few chapters) i feel like JJk also has a more linear storyline but they still share a similar style of storytelling

Both Manga's feature similar MCs, but that end up going in different directions. Taro Sakamoto is an ex-assassin that tries to live out his days as a normal person with his now daughter and wife. Kitano Ken, is an ex-normal person, who somehow got himself into the Mafia business. Both feature characters with strong morals and connections to the people around them, and a motive to protect those people. Kitano Ken will always preach about the strong protecting the weak, and Sakamoto will always reject killing of any sort, no matter how bad a person is. Lots of action in both of these mangas, while also spending lots of time making the audience love every character that appears. Both are amazing. read more

Both stories are heavily focused on character dynamics and interactions.

Both sometimes have slice of life Comedy chapters in-between major arcs.

Overall both series are really good and should be checked out by everyone who loves Assassin like stories with great action

Candy & Cigarettes is a pulp fiction type manga. An old experienced Police officer and a kickass sharpshooting girl. It has lots of amazing action scenes, some dark plots, and a good amount of humour.

Sakamoto days is about an ex-assassin trying to live a normal life. This is seriously good comedy. Every chapter is a fun light read.

Both stories have assassins who are funny and have lots of action. Most importantly both are really enjoyable. I feel Househusband - Gokushufudou is also in the same league.

A ridiculously physically strong, regular dude caught in the midst of a war between crime syndicates. Great comedy, spectacular fight scenes and artwork with tons of energy. Sakamoto Days and Ayashimon are two of the earliest, most promising Weekly Shounen Jump Series of the 2020s.

Both deal with the moral question if killing (of bad persons) is right or wrong.
Both have a mysterious enemy who has his own organization.
Both feature a lot of plot twists which change the tables and sometimes raise the question on which side a character actually stands.
Both have a MC who is against killing.

New life. Sakamoto Days and Crazy Food Truck both follow two former dangerous individuals setting out for a new life only to still be involved in such dangerous affairs, fighting in the name of maintaining their peace in life.

Sakamoto Days does this with a former assassin paired with an old friend, Sakamoto constantly being hunted. Crazy Food Truck doing this with burger man Gordon with a superhuman Arisa he protects.

Both are good manga, executing good action and comedy simultaneously.
