Motomi serialized the shoujo romance comedy manga in Betsucomi from May 2007 to October 2013. Shogakukan published the 16th and final volume in February 2014. The manga has a cumulative 5 million copies of its volumes in circulation worldwide.

VIZ Media licensed the manga in English in July 2010 and published the 16th and final volume in April 2015.

Synopsis
Teru Kurebayashi is left all alone in the world after the death of her brother, Souichirou. Well, all alone except for "Daisy," someone that she can always talk to and who never hesitates to cheer her up. However, Teru has never met Daisy, she has no idea what he looks like, and her only means of contacting him is through a cell phone that her brother left for her.

In stark contrast to the kind words and encouragement Teru receives from Daisy, she gets nothing but grief from the rude school janitor, Tasuku Kurosaki, who forced Teru to work for him after she accidentally broke a window. But while Kurosaki seems like a lazy good-for-nothing who only enjoys making her miserable, is there more to him than meets the eye? [Written by MAL Rewrite]

Probably one of the worst manga I've ever read.

The fact that another 2000s shoujo manga was adapted to anime 20+ years after its release gives me serious hope that seeing one of Natsumi Ando's works animated in this lifetime may not be such a faraway dream after all lmao...fingers crossed!!!

I'm conflicted because I just dropped hundreds of dollars to get the full used set of the manga and this means they are probably gonna do a full reprint... god dammit. Why not 10 years ago? Even 1 year ago? The series ended in 2013... it truly feels like the universe is fucking with me.

But yay Dengeki Daisy anime yaay!! I hope more of Kyousuke Motomi's series get animated, and I'm looking forward to her new manga!

I remember liking the manga, but the discourse about the main couple may be unbearable.

16 year old me who read the manga would be screaming! But 32 year old me is like "age gap, noooo" 😅 will I be watching? Probably..... 😂 (I hope the art is good!)

@Fario-P no no, it's the usual attempts you always find in lots of romcoms (not necesarily shoujo), men forcing unto girls but nothing happens because someone saves the day but one chapter was kinda dramatic because they were kidnapped and put in a hotel room. I'm guessing the mangaka wanted to pull some tears out of her readers, she's good at that and dengeki daisy needs that feeling of danger considering the overall plot.

@Catalano congratulations to Motomi-san~

I am so out of the loop on anime news, it feels like I only now heard about this!!

That's awesome, I'm reading and really enjoying the manga right now. I can see a lot of anti-age gap people not liking this news though. 🙄 Just don't read/watch it it's not that hard.

@GakutoDeathGlare Take a look at the NicoNico Douga episode ratings for Shibou Yuugi (1 is the highest, 5 is the lowest). Hard to come up with another show this poorly received; even things like Douse, Koishite Shimaunda., rated 6.1 on MAL, blow it out of the water lol

Why do shoujos always get a free pass for pedofile main characters? The most you'll get is a "anyone else feel a bit uncomfortable?", which is hilarious. Oh, and of course there's attempted rape in this, another staple of shoujo, why wouldn't there be?

Still waiting for a shoujo "classic" adaptation that isn't another rinse and repeat like all the others in this resurgence of shoujo era we're supposedly in. Maybe Red River and From Far Away will bring something good, but I have my doubts.

@GakutoDeathGlare Most anime fans are allergic to the idea of a director actually having a brain and vision of his own and using the medium's strengths instead of treating the original work like a bible. The first comment on this thread alone shows why this site tends to be pretty shit.

Been waiting centuries for this one. :V

Is Ueno really that polarizing? Or is this just a vocal minority thing? I'm very interested to see what he comes up with this source material lol

Jun 9, 8:16 PM by GakutoDeathGlare

Those are not the characters. Who are that and why does it look like generic modern AND 2000 slop at the same time. All the original emotions have been sucked out.

OMG! Is it going to be directed by Keiichirou Satou!? I can't wait!
