Cool visuals in general. I loved the art direction, the contrast between realistic background and Disney/Tezuka-like characters. I know it's not that popular but I found it really interesting

The story was kind of interesting during the first half, after that was kind of a boring mess. I wish Tezuka watched the original film.

Such a visually impressive work from start to finish, thanks to its superb animation, skillful camera work and direction, incredible colors, detailed background art and, last but not least, remarkable music (jazz, orchestral, and Ray Charles, none of which sounded out of place). The ending song 😍
The contrast between Tezuka's childish design and the city's realism is not for everyone, but I think it works well for this type of story, making the viewing equally avant-garde and vintage.
The shortcomings imo are to be found in the pacing and characters.
Still, a masterful film for all ages, more relevant today than ever. Definitely made for the wide screen!

Man... "I Can't Stop Loving You" was such a fitting choice for the climax. Rock can't let go of his adoptive father, even after being rejected multiple times. He's rather blow up the damn city than let his father be killed by the one thing Rock hates most. Duke Red can't let go of his deceased daughter. Kenichi can't let go of Tima, even when she's no longer the Tima he used to know and is actively trying to kill him.

Much of the movie seems to be contemplative of people doing horrible things out of wounded love.

The artistic direction is so good, the world building, animation and music are perfect, the story itself is a little underwhelming compared to the other aspects but it's still a very good movie overall 8/10

Its an alright movie with a somewhat interesting plot. The animation made me think it was from the 80s because of the quality but surprisingly it released in the 2000s which makes the animation a lot less impressive.
The music was definitely the highlight of the movie with some very enjoyable songs.
Overall it's around a 6/10 But since I'm feeling Generous I'll give it a 7/10.

didn't know this was Tezuka coming into it, but knew as soon as I spotted those noses haha.

good movie tho, nice visuals and music but honestly felt a lil slow and boring at first, but by the end I was fully engaged and what a good ending/conclusion it had!
