@ZeroCrystal Hi. I already contacted the support but thanks. I'm now waiting for their answer.

@JubileusDeus Hello, and sorry for the wait! You can contact MAL Customer Support to get your app approved for commercial use:

Hi everyone. I'm a developper who recently joined the club. I would need some clarifications about the use of the API in a commercial app. I'm currentlly developing an android app that I will monetize through ads display and subscription. I have read the license and learned that we need a written authorization from MAL to use the API in a commercial setting. Si would like to know how to obtain this authorization. Thanks in advance !

Hello, the article is as follows:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MyAnimeList
it is located specifically within "features."
"Features
MyAnimeList lists anime, aeni, donghua as well as manga, manhwa, manhua, doujinshi and light novels...."

Thanks for your help anyway; I hope these details can be implemented in the future.

Hi @Bullet_21 !

Where exactly did you read this? I can't find it on the Wikipedia article.

In any case, I think this is more a database issue than an API problem. If you open the pages of non-Japanese series like Link Click or Lookism, you won't find any explicit tag about the production country. The API cannot return a value that was never recorded in the Anime DB. Unfortunately, the Manga DB is more detailed from this point of view.

I'm building an app with the MAL v2 API and have a question: Wikipedia mentions that MAL catalogs aeni (Korean animation) and donghua (Chinese animation) as separate categories from Japanese anime, but I can't find this reflected in the media_type field of the official API v2 docs (for manga there are explicit values like Manwha/Manhua, but I don't see an equivalent documented for anime). Does anyone know if media_type actually returns "aeni" or "donghua" for those titles, or are they classified the same as regular anime ("tv", "movie", etc.) with no origin distinction? Thanks in advance.

Hi @AJFA_Joaquin ! As a reminder, in-app ads and spontaneous donations also count as a source of income. If your app has none of these things, you can safely publish it and use the API as you described.
