Bleach: Memories in the Rain

This review is going to be a little different then my other ones. If one is looking for a completle remake of the original, this isn't it. This has only a few minor changes and a few minor additions. There was a little more character development and it focused more on a small plot line. One HAS to watch it to figure out if they like it or not really, but hopefully what I've said above will help make up ones mind to watch it or not.

I voted everything a 4.

I gave it a 4 because this was pointless and don't eve waste your time watching it. This part is just in the anime and it beats me why I wasted 20 minutes watching something i've already seen in the anime. Some OVA.

In the anime and manga though this part gets a 10.

Bleach rocks, so i'll give it a 6.

Bleach: Memories in the Rain is a competent OVA in its execution, emotional at times, and visually well-produced, but ultimately suffers from a major problem: a complete lack of novelty.

The premise here is to revisit Ichigo Kurosaki's past and show again the Hollow attack that resulted in the death of his mother, Masaki. The problem is that all of this has already been presented in the main anime in a sufficiently clear and impactful way, making this special seem more like an extended summary than a truly necessary work.

Narratively, it's not bad. On the contrary, the OVA manages to convey the emotional weight of Ichigo's ... trauma well, reinforcing his guilt and the influence this event had on his personality. The melancholic atmosphere works, the soundtrack helps a lot, and the direction tries to add more drama to the events. For fans very involved with the characters, it can even serve as an interesting emotional complement.

Still, it's difficult to ignore the constant feeling of repetition. There is no truly new information, important revelations, or significant changes in the narrative that justify an entire special focused on it. In many moments it feels like just a recycling of scenes and emotions that had already been explored in the anime, only now in a more condensed and less impactful way.

The biggest flaw of Memories in the Rain is precisely this: it adds almost nothing to the Bleach experience. Those who have already watched the main series will probably feel like they are seeing something too familiar, without the same impact as the first time. This makes the OVA tiring in some parts, even with its technically competent execution.

In the end, it's a special that functions more as supplementary material for very dedicated fans than as something truly indispensable. It's not bad, but it's also far from memorable.

Bleach: Memories in the Rain é um OVA competente na execução, emocional em alguns momentos e visualmente bem produzido, mas acaba sofrendo por um grande problema: a total falta de novidade.

A proposta aqui é revisitar o passado de Ichigo Kurosaki e mostrar novamente o ataque do hollow que resultou na morte de sua mãe, Masaki. O problema é que tudo isso já foi apresentado no anime principal de forma suficientemente clara e impactante, o que faz esse especial parecer mais um resumo estendido do que uma obra realmente necessária.

Narrativamente não é ruim. Pelo contrário, o OVA consegue transmitir bem o peso emocional do trauma de Ichigo, reforçando sua culpa e a influência que esse acontecimento teve em sua personalidade. A atmosfera melancólica funciona, a trilha sonora ajuda bastante e a direção tenta dar mais dramaticidade aos eventos. Para fãs muito envolvidos com os personagens, pode até servir como um complemento emocional interessante.

Ainda assim, fica difícil ignorar a sensação constante de repetição. Não existem informações realmente novas, revelações importantes ou mudanças significativas na narrativa que justifiquem um especial inteiro focado nisso. Em muitos momentos parece apenas uma reciclagem de cenas e emoções que já tinham sido trabalhadas anteriormente no anime, só que agora de maneira mais condensada e menos impactante.

O maior defeito de Memories in the Rain é justamente esse: ele não adiciona quase nada à experiência de Bleach. Quem já assistiu à obra principal provavelmente vai sentir que está vendo algo familiar demais, sem o mesmo impacto da primeira vez. Isso torna o OVA cansativo em alguns trechos, mesmo tendo uma execução tecnicamente competente.

No fim, é um especial que funciona mais como material complementar para fãs muito dedicados do que como algo realmente indispensável. Não é ruim, mas também está longe de ser memorável.
