If you are watching shinchan regularly, then you should watch this movie. (obviously not recommended for people who have never watched crayon shinchan)
note: sorry if i write the spellings of the characters wrong, i have watched this show in a different language so the way of saying their name differs a bit!
Characters: If we skip over shinchan, hiroshi, and mitsae, then other than that, the characters complete their function as the side character / ally of the nohara family. In any shinchan movie, if you are expecting character depth, then your expectations are a bit skewed (the show is literally episodic so expecting character depth
...
disrupts the tone of the show a lot).
Other characters are the three brothers (ill just call them pink, green and yellow), the other rival family, the foreign person who got the marble and the cop girl.
-> The three brothers work perfectly with shinchan due to some sort of character resonance between them, you will love watching the dynamics and interactions between them because you might see one of the brothers, Pink, as just "shinchan but bigger". So it might get a few laughs out of you.
-> The rival family also has their own comedic moments, they are portrayed as a much more classy and elite-like family compared to the three brother's family, who are portrayed as more rural. The scene at the sauna in specific had me with a few laughs, the apparent peace and violence exchange that happens so abruptly is very amusing.
-> The cop girl, is what i thought of, as a female hiroshi, which i think the story is pointing to too but yes, i felt like the inclusion of the cop girl was really forceful (she had zero function in the movie) but she pays off great as comedic relief, so mixed feelings about her.
Story: It had followed the same trends as most shinchan movies from that era, a story that is trying to look deep, but honestly, the function of the movie is not to be deep, but to make the viewer laugh with the repeated gag of "dark balls", so the story doesnt matter much, if you care about the story, then this movie might disappoint you a lot.. infact any shinchan movie will disappoint you a lot.
Comedy: If you are a regular shinchan viewer, then the comedy for you is sufficient. You will love it, you will cherish it and you will watch happily, but if you happen to be an irregular shinchan viewer, then you may find the jokes repetitive (dark balls joke as reference), and if you dont fit in right with action based drama (doing some act to make someone laugh), then.. good luck, because trust me, 50% of the movie is exactly that.
tldr; classic shinchan movie. comedic and fun as any other movie of shinchan.
