Ranma ½ (2024)

Both shows are fantastic remakes based on the legendary Rumiko Takahashi's works. They share a similar vibe, blending romance comedy with a cast of captivating characters. If you enjoy one of these, you're sure to love the other! 

Remake of an older anime/manga that was before the 2000s. Both have a focus on martial arts (Yaiba is specifically kenpo/swordfighting). The main character in both shows is a natural talent that shows up one day to live with their father’s old rival/friend and has a fun and cute rapport with their daughter. The daughter in both shows seem equally competent of taking care of themselves (albeit Akane more so than Sayaka). 

Both shows are about forced relationships. The MCs are forced into a relationship with a violent tsundere girl. In case of Ranma, Akane is his fiancee and in case of Raku, Chitoge is his make-believe girlfriend. Both are filled with intense comedy. Oh, and both are harem shows. 

Both are romance comedies with bright, colorful visuals, a high school setting, and have similar tropes. 

Both male MCs turn into female characters for wacky reasons and have to fight even wackier characters throughout the series! 

If you enjoyed Ranma ½, you’ll likely have a good time with Tenshi na Konamaiki. Both series center around a unique gender-bending premise, blending comedy, martial arts, and romantic confusion in a ridiculous and heartfelt way. In Ranma ½, the protagonist Ranma Saotome changes into a girl when splashed with cold water, leading to constant hijinks, misunderstandings, and an ongoing identity crisis all wrapped in slapstick humor and chaotic romance. Tenshi na Konamaiki follows a similar thread: Megumi Amatsuka, once a boy, is transformed into a beautiful girl by a magical book and seeks a way to return to her original form, all while navigating high school life, persistent suitors, and personal growth. Expect the same kind of over-the-top scenarios, schoolyard rivalries, and awkward romantic entanglements. Unlike Ranma’s more episodic nature, Tenshi na Konamaiki adds an overarching mystery about Megumi’s transformation which keeps the plot moving forward. read more 

Both animes are action-packed romcoms that lean into the supernatural. There's some similarities with the main male protagonist being able to change his appearance, and the love triangle antics. Dandadan can be considered as a modern successor to the romcom genre anime that Ranma 1/2 pioneered in the 90s.  

Both are delightful romantic comedies filled with chaotic humor, eccentric characters, and fantastical twists, all crafted by the legendary Rumiko Takahashi. Their vibrant animation and over-the-top scenarios make them endlessly entertaining, while their heartfelt exploration of love and misunderstandings ensures emotional depth. Fans of quirky relationships and hilarious misadventures will find both series irresistible, as they deliver timeless charm and a uniquely fun anime experience.  

Delinquent boy/rowdy boy has to watch over their straight edge friend who dislikes their guts. They cant help but still care about them and slow romance brews
