Kyojin no Hoshi

Both series are incredibly popular baseball epics covering a portion of the players lifestarting from childhood. Both series also have similar vibe focusing on the rivalry between the main characters and the rival players from the opposing teams  

The start of these titles is quite similar: The protag lives as a little boy with his father. Also, the series show the growth of the protag from little boy to a young man. The father was a professional athlete, and the son practices the same discipline like the father. However, the father-son relationships are pretty different. While Genki idolizes his father when he is alive and also after his death, the relationship between Hyuuma and his father is characterized by deep frictions and full of conflict. If you are looking for stories about growth and different father-son relationships I recommend these titles. 

while Kyojin no hoshi may have older art you can see the influence that that Major takes from Kyojin no Hoshi in writing style yes while you could say that it takes more from Adachi baseball stories in style the goes Adachi takes his big influence from this story like all baseball manga/anime take a bit of its influence. on the other side of the coin Kyojin no Hosh has better music like alot of anime of its time it had Enka style Music as its opening but it also true anison the fact that Kyojin no hoshi casting is top end too alot of the cast were big at the time or later become huge icons Major has none of this on top of bad Music and so os casting one draw back Kyojin no Hoshi may have is the fact almost 50 years old  read more
