Onara Gorou

I will be straight up, this anime is amazing.

I have written many joke reviews in the past, some still serving their purpose, some are no longer alive. I have written so much that I have no idea if I am being true to myself or just messing around. But one thing is for sure. Onara Gorou is a great piece of work.

Humour can be interpreted in ways that make it the most inconsistent thing one could imagine. There is no one universally funny joke. So I will just say, for that one minority that loves random media that makes no sense, the kind of anime ... that people say "failed to be funny" (but it is funny in truth smh). Onara Gorou is for you.

Story? Sensei Onara Gorou teaches you how to prevail in life, yes, a fart does that. The very deep and philosophical themes are very deep and philosophical lies in the fact that there are no deep and philosophical themes, or maybe there is? Though, this is a shitpost, literally. Onara Gorou isn't supposed to be something serious as it is just a bruhmoment.jpg, in saying that though, some of the morals of the story do hit home, so there is that to consider. The characters rock the same boat too, pretty sure they were irrelevant and we only come here for the man himself Onara Gorou spitting about some really important life lessons, just not as cringe as some of those YouTube channels.

Audiovisuals? Kino. Mixed manga style with animation from none other than the likes of something like Inferno Cop. The two come hand in hand and whilst it may look like some odd animation, it fits everything about this anime 100%. The same is for audio, ED really catchy, OST not really much, but all the voice acting was pretty something else. Great work.

Enjoyment? Well, considering you have nothing against random entertainment or are very critical about your taste in jokes, this is pretty much very enjoyable. It is clear it doesn't take itself seriously, nor does it even care, but I suppose that what makes it even better. I like random, and Onara Gorou sure does check out in being great at random. Would recommend this for those looking for something that doesn't fit in with the bunch. 10/10.

This is the type of Anime, once you're done watching it you will say what did I even watch. The point is, that Onara Gorou is a very weird and random comedy which is mainly focused on farts. In fact, there is one episode where 2 farts fall in love with each other. And no, I am not making that up. Some people may be deterred by such dumpster humor, but I decided to watch it because it stood out like a sore thumb and I think farts are funny. Most of the episodes focus on the main character Onara Gorou, appearing out of no ... wear, and a funny sound effect plays and then weirdness ensues. The good thing about Onara Gorou is that each episodes are really short. So if you wanted you could watch them in less than a day heck, even and hour. The point is I thought, Onara Gorou was defiantly one of those Animes that fit into the category of being purposely bad and weird. I Defiantly think you should try and watch Onara Gorou if looking for some pure stupidity.

Overview:

I have a number of serious and quite lengthy reviews in the works right now, so here is something quick and easy. The motherfuckers behind the much beloved President Trap Kun have struck again!

Plot?:

The plot is about a sentient, talking fart that sometimes solves problems. Everyone seems to know and absolutely adores the talking fart. The humor though "at least for the Japanese audience" actually doesn't revolve around the concept. Nope! Instead it's all about puns and comic wordplay that doesn't translate outside of Japanese. This is Vampire Holmes all over again!

Animation:

This was drawn entirely by one person. I mean...yeah it sucks, but it's ... pretty hard to animate something entirely by yourself on a tight schedule and zero budget.

Soundtrack: A live action band of cute women sing about "eating junkfood and farting without humanity or mercy".

Overall:

Having a cartoon about a talking fart (or shit) isn't what makes this uniquely Japanese. That's the kind of joke White Americans in the 1990s would make. Ren and Stimpy and South Park for example. No, what makes this distinctly Japanese is that a show about a talking fart quickly turns into a bad Manzai routine. Come back next year, when this director inevitably makes a show about a queef that recites Rakugo poetry.
