A silly OVA from a silly anime...
To be honest, when I decided to rewatch the anime to write a review, I chose to start with the OVAs. That might not have been the best choice, because after watching the six special episodes, I was left with the feeling that I had simply wasted my time. These OVAs are basically a collection of lighthearted moments and cute, funny situations involving the main characters, but there is practically nothing here that actually adds anything to the series.

content to showcase the characters than as a genuine extension of the story. We get situations involving the cast, jokes, moments of fanservice, and scenes attempting to explore the girls' "cute" or sensual sides. The problem is that none of it really worked for me.
To me, this series has always been one of those shows that relies heavily on romantic comedy and school-harem clichés. The protagonist is placed in an absurd situation, surrounded by girls with vastly different personalities, and much of the humor stems from the awkward situations and misunderstandings that arise between them. It’s a formula that can work when there’s enough creativity to play with those elements, but here, I feel the show simply repeats ideas we’ve seen dozens of times in other anime.
The OVAs do absolutely nothing to change that impression. On the contrary, they seem even more focused on what I consider the show's weakest points: fanservice and silly situations involving the characters. There is no real attempt at character development or creating memorable moments. They are just extra episodes that could easily be skipped without missing anything important.
I can understand the concept, though. OVAs like this are often produced specifically to offer fans something more laid-back, without the need to follow a major narrative arc. The problem is that, for that to work, it should at least be entertaining. And I simply couldn't find any enjoyment in watching them. The jokes didn't make me laugh, the situations failed to hold my interest, and the fan service wasn't enough to make the experience enjoyable.
Another point that really stood out to me upon revisiting the work today is the character Shiodome Hakua. Her design is extremely infantilized, and that bothered me quite a bit. Regardless of the author's intent or any in-universe justification, the way the character is drawn and used for fan service strikes me as highly problematic. It’s one of those elements that might have gone unnoticed during a first viewing but, when revisited years later, draws negative attention.
Visually, there isn't much to praise, either. The animation is average and gets the job done, but there is nothing particularly impressive about the direction, backgrounds, or character movement. For content that relies so heavily on charisma and comedy, I expected a more interesting presentation; instead, the episodes are quite run-of-the-mill in that regard.
Ultimately, these specials are exactly the kind of content I consider completely dispensable. They aren't necessarily the worst OVAs I've ever watched, but I see no reason to recommend them. If you really love the characters and want to consume absolutely everything related to the series, you might find some entertainment here. Otherwise, there is practically no reason to watch them.
It’s a collection of silly scenes, fan service, characters sticking to their usual clichés, and situations that add nothing to the story. That might be enough for existing fans, but for me, it didn't work as comedy, as bonus content, or, least of all, as something memorable.
In the end, I was left with the feeling that I could have spent that time watching something else.

Um OVA bobo de um anime bobo...
Sendo sincero, quando decidi rever o anime para poder fazer uma review, resolvi começar justamente pelas OVAs. E talvez essa não tenha sido a melhor escolha, porque, depois de assistir aos seis episódios especiais, a sensação que ficou foi simplesmente a de ter perdido meu tempo. Esses OVAs são basicamente uma coleção de momentos descontraídos e situações engraçadinhas envolvendo os protagonistas, mas não existe praticamente nada aqui que realmente acrescente alguma coisa à obra.
Para quem já assistiu ao anime, não há grandes novidades. Os especiais parecem existir muito mais como um conteúdo extra para aproveitar as personagens do que como uma extensão de fato da história. Temos algumas situações envolvendo o elenco, piadas, momentos de fanservice e cenas que tentam explorar o lado mais "fofo" ou sensual das garotas. O problema é que nada disso funcionou particularmente comigo.
O anime sempre foi, para mim, um daqueles animes que se apoiam bastante em clichês de comédia romântica e harém escolar. O protagonista é colocado em uma situação absurda, cercado por várias garotas com personalidades bem diferentes entre si, e boa parte do humor surge justamente das situações constrangedoras e dos mal-entendidos entre eles. É uma fórmula que pode funcionar quando existe criatividade suficiente para brincar com esses elementos, mas aqui sinto que a obra simplesmente repete ideias que já vimos dezenas de vezes em outros animes.
E os OVAs não fazem absolutamente nada para mudar essa impressão. Pelo contrário, eles parecem ainda mais concentrados naquilo que considero o lado mais fraco da obra: fanservice e situações bobas envolvendo as personagens. Não existe uma tentativa real de desenvolver os personagens ou apresentar alguma situação memorável. São apenas episódios extras que poderiam ser facilmente ignorados sem que você perdesse absolutamente nada importante.
Até consigo entender a proposta. OVAs desse tipo muitas vezes são produzidas justamente para entregar um conteúdo mais descontraído aos fãs, sem a necessidade de seguir uma narrativa importante. O problema é que, para isso funcionar, pelo menos deveria existir alguma diversão. E eu simplesmente não consegui me divertir assistindo. As piadas não me arrancaram risadas, as situações não me interessaram e o fanservice não foi suficiente para tornar a experiência agradável.
Outro ponto que me chamou bastante atenção revendo a obra hoje é a personagem Shiodome Hakua. Seu design é extremamente infantilizado, e isso me incomodou bastante. Independentemente da intenção do autor ou da justificativa existente dentro da obra, a maneira como a personagem é desenhada e utilizada para fanservice me parece bastante problemática. É um daqueles elementos que talvez passassem mais despercebidos em uma primeira experiência, mas que, revendo anos depois, acabam chamando muito mais atenção de uma forma negativa.
Visualmente, também não há muito o que elogiar. A animação é mediana e cumpre seu papel, mas não existe nenhum trabalho particularmente impressionante na direção, nos cenários ou na movimentação dos personagens. Para um conteúdo que depende tanto de carisma e comédia, esperava pelo menos alguma apresentação mais interessante, mas os episódios são bastante comuns nesse aspecto.
No fim, esses especiais são exatamente o tipo de conteúdo que considero completamente dispensável. Não são necessariamente os piores OVAs que já assisti, mas também não vejo nenhuma razão para recomendá-los. Se você gosta muito dos personagens da obra e quer consumir absolutamente todo o material relacionado à obra, provavelmente encontrará algum entretenimento aqui. Caso contrário, não existe praticamente nenhum motivo para assistir.
É uma coletânea de cenas bobas, fanservice, personagens seguindo seus clichês habituais e situações que não acrescentam nada à história. Talvez para quem já seja fã isso seja suficiente, mas para mim não funcionou nem como comédia, nem como conteúdo extra e muito menos como algo memorável.
No final das contas, ficou apenas a sensação de que poderia ter usado esse tempo para assistir a qualquer outra coisa.
